Clinical Rotation

Our Partners

We are working in collaboration with Dr. Mel Boulton, Dr. Alonso, and Dr. Annika at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) in the Interventional Neuroradiology Department. Their clinical expertise and ongoing work with complex neurovascular cases—particularly cavernous carotid aneurysms—form the foundation of our research partnership.

Our Deliverables

Our key deliverables include a comprehensive clinical literature review summarizing current evidence on the treatment of cavernous carotid artery aneurysms (CCAs), a detailed power analysis to assess the feasibility of comparing treatment outcomes using LHSC patient data, and a structured data extraction framework to support retrospective chart review. These deliverables aim to inform clinical decision-making, enhance future research design, and contribute to improved patient care in interventional neuroradiology.

Reflection

My clinical rotation with the Interventional Neuroradiology team at LHSC was a highly rewarding experience that deepened my understanding of both the technical and human aspects of patient care. Observing real-time procedures and engaging in interdisciplinary case discussions allowed me to see how complex treatment decisions are made—especially for conditions like cavernous carotid aneurysms where treatment options vary significantly.

Contributing to the literature review and power analysis strengthened my appreciation for how evidence-based practice directly informs clinical strategy. This experience not only expanded my clinical knowledge but also reinforced the importance of bridging research with practice to optimize patient outcomes.
