Career Development

Career development in this context focuses on equipping students with essential skills to communicate complex health research effectively across various formats and audiences. Students will deepen their understanding of levels of evidence in research, learn to craft clear and concise scientific narratives, and enhance their ability to assess, critique, and reflect on both their own and their peers' presentations, fostering professional growth and effective knowledge dissemination.

Video 1 Assessment

For Video Assignment 1, we recorded a 3-minute video presentation outlining our proposed Capstone Projects for the program. In our presentations, we clearly defined our overarching interdisciplinary study goals for the year, explained how each rotation would contribute to achieving those goals, and identified the potential significance of our courses of study

Video 2 Assessment

For our second video assessment, we critically analyzed the key diagnostic challenges associated with early Alzheimer’s disease (AD) through an interdisciplinary lens. Drawing on insights from biomedicine, neuropsychology, and public health, we explored how limitations in biomarkers, cognitive assessments, and health system structures intersect to delay diagnosis. Our presentation emphasized the compounding nature of these barriers and the need for integrated, equity-focused approaches to improve early detection and patient outcomes.

Seminar Series

Grand Rounds Seminar: Advances in Endoscopic Resection of Early stage Esophageal Cancer

I chose to attend this seminar because of my strong interest in medicine, which is my ultimate career goal. Learning about advancements in treatment and diagnosis is always exciting, and I genuinely enjoy exploring areas of innovation that improve patient care. The topic of early-stage esophageal cancer was intriguing because it highlights the critical importance of early detection and minimally invasive techniques. The chance to learn from experts in the field about cutting-edge methods, like endoscopic resection, aligned with my passion for understanding how advancements in medicine can significantly enhance outcomes and quality of life for patients.
